Really Impressed by the Obama iPhone Application - Thanks to Will, one of my students at Emerson, who demoed it for me - I can now say that Obama owns McCain on the Internet, through the use of social media and now on the iPhone.
So often marketing campaigns use social media as a shot gun approach to creating buzz and motivating behavior without any understanding or giving any real thought to aligning audience, technical platform, campaign and social media. In this case it’s dead on: the audience are demographicly speaking young, trend setters or followers who own the technical platform - the iPhone - and will most probably skew towards supporting Obama’s campaign - they are now empowered and motivated to use their iPhones to call friends identified as residing in swing states. The application puts Obama’s speaking points on any issue at the finger tips of the caller. So Cool.
